2012 Wrap-Up: Sun & Fun by the Ton

First and foremost, we can’t thank our sponsors, volunteers, performers and supporters enough. What an incredible weekend! Relive it through Nate Lindstrom’s photos here.

Super thanks to Trampled By Turtles, who made it possible to add another whole day in very short time to raise money for flood victims. With their support along with all the other acts that contributed to the cause and all who attended the festival, we were able to provide a nice boost to the long-term flood recovery fund! United Way gathered over $3K at the main gate alone. Ticket sales, shirt and raffle fundraisers, and support from those involved in creating this event brought in $21K. With more to come from vendors and other festival-related donations, the total will almost certainly exceed $25K.

And there’s so much more! Solid connections were made, awareness of many other community issues was brought forward, consciousness evolved, celebration ensued, and sky lanterns disappeared into the atmosphere as we stood together for humanity. KUMD 103.3 FM gathered over 800 pounds of food and hygiene items with their “Stuff The Truck” event! Minnesota United for All Families gathered over 400 signatures and 9 fresh volunteers. The Positive Energy Outdoors climbing wall and the Lake Superior ZooMobile were huge hits with the kiddos. The music was awesome. There’s nothing like the best local acts on the best local stage at the best local venue, all with a local brew and food from local vendors in hand for a great local cause. All around, a truly extraordinary weekend.

It doesn’t end either. This event was meant to be a kickoff to more events and much more support for those affected by the flood. Help is still greatly needed. You can contribute directly to the cause right here.

Thanks again for playing an important role in our wonderful community!
